Welcome to The Henna Gateway! It brings me so much joy to have you here.
My name is Sana, and I’m the artist behind this brand. Growing up I looked forward to getting my henna done any chance I had. My mum was my personal henna artist and while I loved having her do my henna, I was incredibly picky with the design! I knew early on that I had a unique style, one that incorporated some traditional elements with a modern twist. While I found myself doodling always, I wasn’t always comfortable with a henna cone. Henna isn’t just an art of design, it’s a skill that takes time to develop-- but the best part? The whole process of learning it and applying it became my own little therapy.
I believe henna is a magical plant that not only allows you to feel beautiful, but reconnect with your body.
The Henna Gateway was founded as a means to make getting your henna done a full sensory experience. From the cooling properties of the paste against your skin, to the smell of beautiful essential oils in the henna, to the sight of the magical artwork. And of course, beyond the art comes the connection between the artist and the receiver of the art.
Our Mantra
You don’t need an occasion to get your henna done— just like you don’t need a reason to get your nails done. Henna is an adornment that unites cultures, brings us together as women and celebrates us. Whether it’s applied for a specific occasion or not, we aim to make you feel beautiful, in your own skin. While there are several cultural styles and designs, henna is incredibly individualistic and should represent your own unique style.
